Lukáš, the director of JALUD Embedded in Pilsen, has had a successful year. In November, he received the main prize in the AI Awards, where his company took first place in the Public Administration category for the development of SED sound detectors. These help protect human life and property. They can detect the sound of gunshots, shattering glass or panicked and aggressive screams. In December, the company received an honorable mention for the detectors in the Visionaries 2023 competition.
The thirty-four-year-old entrepreneur founded the company with his colleague Jakub Valis in 2014. “We took the opposite approach at the beginning and found out that this was not a good way to go,” he recalls.
The turning point came in 2016, when they teamed up with the head of Information Technology of the City of Pilsen, Luděk Šantora. “He said that he liked what we were doing and that it could help solve security issues in Pilsen if our sensors could point out risky events in public spaces in the city,” says Lukáš Svoboda.
His company’s sensors have therefore started to connect with the Pilsen CCTV system and alert operators to crisis events. There are already 54 of them in the city, but they have also been installed in Amsterdam in the Netherlands and Sao Paulo in Brazil.
